good morning, welcome to mornings on 2 it is sunday august 26th i'm claudine wong. >> and i'm mike mibach. it's the last sunday of the month. september knocking on the door. meteorologist rosemary orozco with us now on how we are looking. >> good morning, to you. it will feel like october out there. we've got a cooler day in store. morning fog. we have drizzle. clearing to the coast by the afternoon. temperatures well below average. 3-6-degrees below what we felt yesterday. this morning the marine layer is thicker. on shore breeze is a little stronger. i will show you what to expect for the afternoon coming up. weather conditions should make it an exciting final day of sailing on the san francisco bay. the america's cup world series wraps up this afternoon. thousands of people are expected to attend including our own ktvu allie rasmus who is live in san francisco where things are certainly blowing there. right? >> reporter: that is right.

there is no fog but it is a windy day. taking a look at the catamarans bobbing around. the water is a little choppy. there are 11 countries represented in the america's cup world series. these are their boats out here. some countries have two teams like the u.s.. catamaran number five and then on the other side of the cove they have boat number four. and those two boats have a bit of a rivalry going especially after this crash we're about to show you that happened on friday. now the skipper of oracle team usa number five russell says the skipper of the other oracle boat didn't give him enough room at the starting line and that caused him to crash into the committee boats. the catamarans hall was damaged in the crash but it has been fixed. now the two u.s. teams will go head to head in the match race

final today. it has been a week of races and close calls on the waters with them narrowing skimming past each other. right now oracle team usa is in the overall lead. but at least three other teams are in the running to win the championship because sunday's races are weighted more heavily than the races that happened earlier this week. thousands of people have packed marina green to watch. san francisco mayor ed lee predicts america's cup race would bring in about $1 billion in economic impact. of course, we'll have to wait until the week is over and the numbers are crunched to find out if that prediction comes true. live in san francisco allie rasmus ktvu channel 2 news. the never say quit team from petaluma will take the field one final time at the little league world series. this morning they will play ma for -- panama for third place.

they went farther than most people could imagine. they came close to making this afternoon's world championship game. >> centerfield and unbelievable. >> the america's team nearly pulled off the greatest comeback in little league world series history. yesterday down 15-5 to tennessee in the sixth and final inning petaluma scored ten runs to tie the game sending it into extra innings but their late game heroics ended as tennessee stormed back to win 24-16. >> at the end i will be excited we came all the way here. >> when i'm 40 years old i can look on t and say i played at that stadium. i hit a home run at that stadium. >> the game lasted more than three hours and set a world series record with the combined

40 runs and the next half hour we will go live to ktvu kara in williams port. is absolute pandemonium there. it was a sellout there at the theater. about 500 people crammed in to watch the thrilling game and they say they are extremely proud for the young hometown heros. >> it was fabulous. i'm telling you. this game they were both wonderful teams and it was the game that kept on giving. >> the city of petaluma will throw a parade next weekend to honor the team when it returns from pennsylvania. in overnight news oakland police are investigating a deadly double shooting that happened in the area of 85th avenue and olive street. police say the shooter walked up to a man and woman and

opened fire. it all just happened after 9:30 last night. the woman was pronounced dead at the scene while the male victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. no arrests have been made and investigators are looking for a motive behind the attack. hayward police are investigating a double shooting last night. it happened at ponderosa court. a gunman walked up to the car and opened fire. two people inside that vehicle were wounded but their injuries are reportedly not life threatening. two other people in the car weren't hurt. the funman ran and remains on the loose. investigators are trying to determine who was on board a small plane that crashed in south lake tahoe late last night. witnesses say they heard the engine having trouble, then saw the plane, dip, and crash right into barton meadow near highway 50. when it crashed it started a small brush fire which firefighters were able to contain. the plane was so badly burned they could not read the tail number and having trouble identifying it. six people are displaced after

a house fire in fairfield. flames were first spotted at around 9:00 last night. firefighters say everyone got out safely but the home is destroyed. a preliminary investigation shows the cause to be electrical. tropical storm isaac is supposed to be at hurricane strength when it hits the florida keys later today. i want to show you video this morning as people begin to prepare by filling more sandbags. strong winds are forecasted for the keys this morning with conditions getting worse as the days continue. residents say they are stocking up on gas generators and anything else needed to ride out that storm. yesterday isaac swept across southern haiti and cuba killing at least four people including a ten-year-old girl. in haiti flooding and high winds washed away many of the tents and makeshift shelters set up afr the 2010 earthquake. people have been sleeping in the mud and doctors are expecting an increase in cholera cases because of the

flooding. the storm is changing the schedule for tomorrow's republican convention in florida. coming up when mitt romney will now officially receive his party's nomination and what he is saying about the delay. allie rasmus live there in san francisco this morning for us. the wind was blowing there where she was at. wondering if that is what we will expect today's windy day. >> yeah it was breezy out there this morning. even gusty through the delta. if you driving along our passes. the altamont pass expecting very strong gusts. you can see it for yourself. the responsible low that is sitting right off the coast of oregon and washington. this dropping out of the gulf of alaska over the last couple of days if you have been with us you have seen it as it has progressed from here now to about here. the on shore breeze stronger this morning. the marine layer yesterday right about 2,000 feet. this morning it's closer to 2500 feet in some cases.

history's most famous phrases has died. >> that's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. >> yesterday 82-year-old astronaut neil armstrong died. armstrong became an american hero after his historic space walk in 1969. yesterday we talked to a man that remembered watching armstrong walk on the moon and now who works on the uss hornet that is docked in alameda. they spent three days on that aircraft carrier after returning from space. >> to be working on board the same ship that he actually walked on after that faithful mission was phenomenal. >> armstrong's family says quote the next time you walk outside on a chlorination and see the moon smiling down, think of neil armstrong and give him a wink. an eviction notice may have

sparked a new york city gunman to kill a man outside the empire state building. police source tells the new york post he blames the victim for losing his job two years ago. the source also says johnson may have snapped after learning he was getting evicted from his apartment. meanwhile the investigation into the entire case continues. the two officers that shot and killed johnson fired 16 times. neither officer had ever discharged their weapon on patrol before. nine bystanders were wounded. three are still in the hospital. chicago police say the city is experiencing a crime wave that has not been seen in years. seven people were shot and killed this weekend with about 24 others wounded. some of the shootings were gang related. several were attempted robberies. one stray bullet critically injured a 15-year-old girl. >> we are not winning, we are not losing, we are basically treading water. this month of august we're having some trouble because some of these retaliatory

shootings are happening quicker than we have been able to get in front of. >> 13 people were shot during a half hour of violence. homicides this year are up by 30% compared to last year. registered antioch sex offender is facing charges in connection to an unsolved murder in long beach. he was arrested yesterday. this is a photo from megan log's website. he is charged in the 34-year- old murder case. it involves a 17-year-old mother that was stabbed and choked to death. he is expected to be in court on september 11th. california's plan to get more felons out of jail and into treatment programs may not be working as well as the state has hoped. a new report say most offenders that qualify for rehab services instead of jail are still being sentenced to time behind bars. only a small percentage are sent to mandatory counseling. it has been almost a year since that program started. during the first six months of

the realignment plan 32% of the 15,000 offenders were given straight jail time instead of probation. the south bay safe ride program is getting help from a former volunteer. for 27 years safe ride has been offering rides to teenagers that need a sober ride home. last week the red cross which runs the program said a lack of funding and volunteers was shutting them down. now a former volunteer has offered to host a form of meetings to stop drinking and trying. the party's chairman says the convention will convene tomorrow as scheduled but will mead limo into recess until tuesday afternoon. party leaders believe the worst of the storm will have passed by then. about 50,000 people are expected to attend the convention where mitt romney will officially accept his party's presidential nomination. in a tweet romney says the opening day nomination will have to wait because people's

safety is more important. california republicans received word late last night that the opening of the convention is being delayed until tuesday. the chairman of the california republican party says this is not ruining the party's enthusiasm. he says most of the delegation is already in florida and eager to begin. california republican party is the largest at the convention with 750 people attending. despite the delay tampa remains on high alert ahead of the convention as the city prepares for one of the largest political events of the year. streets are being blocked off and cameras have been installed at almost every intersection. more police officers and florida state troopers are being brought in patrol the streets. people that live there say the extra security is inconvenient but they do feel safer. ktvu ken is in florida for the gop convention. he will deliver live reports throughout the week starting tonight on the 10:00 news. president obama expects he is going to be targeted by

republicans at their convention. >> they basically have one message which is the economy is not where it should be, and it's obama's fault. and there will be variations on that theme. but i think when voters step back, they will look at who can move us forward. >> mr. obama granted the associated press a one on one interview at the white house. he has braced extreme conservative positions such as favoring tax cuts to the wealthy. the presidential election will hinge on seven battleground states. those include nevada, colorado, ohio, and florida and they combine for an 85 elector real votes.

a powerful typhoon is approaching japan. the eye of the storm is expected to pass over the island this evening bringing 112 miles an hour winds and 40- foot waves. two injuries have already been reported and hundreds of people don't have power right now in preparations at least 300 people were taken shelter inside public buildings and all flights in and out of the area have been canceled. parts of china also being hit

from heavy rain and wind from a typhoon. hundreds of fishing boats have been called back to port and are banned from going out to sea. the typhoon hit taiwan on friday overturning cars and flooding farms and homes. fire crews are starting to get the upper hand on a massive wild fire burning north of sacramento. that fire has already destroyed 64 homes. hundreds more are threatened. the fires burned more than 27,000 acres and 74% contained. it started last week from a lightning strike and fire crews expected it to be contained as early as tomorrow. fire crew also busy battling two other major fires here in northern california. one is burning in the plumas national forest. nearly 67,000-acres have burned so far and it's 61% contained. the other is burning outside the mendocino county community of covelo. that is 32% contained and

burned more than 24,000 acres. they have seen nearly 43,000 wild fires this year. while the number of fires is down from the ten year average of more than 54,000 fires acreage is well above the 5.4 million-acre record. time now 7:24. the sun is up. let's check in with rosemary. >> most of us waking one gray skies just seeing a few areas with pockets of blue skies. the marine layer thicker this morning. the on shore breeze is stronger. fairfield reporting 26 miles an hour winds. the gusts to 30. as i move in a little bit closer, most areas anywhere from 5-15 miles an hour we're seeing those winds blow. even though our temperatures are up by a few degrees. if you have that breeze below your door that will send down a chill. temperatures holding in the 50s mid to upper 50s in most cases.

game the the little league world series. from petaluma to pennsylvania they have caused quite a stir. kara lou is in williams part. kara. >> reporter: they are. what a wild ride of a weekend it has been. the team just now cleared the field. having warmed up as you said one last time. on the heels of a wild game yesterday. the petaluma national team did not win the u.s. final but it was is a game few will forget. scored ten closing the gap forcing an extra inning. then tennessee scored another nine putting the game simply out of reach. coaches and families told us the kids have every reason to be so proud of what they have accomplished. now this morning we caught the team as we were warming up for their last game of the season. the miraculous season as many would say. they do have one more consolation game for third place that starts a half hour

a huge celebration. they are going to get a limousine ride home from the airport and next sunday there will be a parade for the team. it will start and end at walnut park with each player getting to ride in a convertible. there will also be a short ceremony. fans will also be able to take pictures with the players and get their autographs. they will be accepting donations with the money going to the uganda little league team. we have new video of bart passengers sent us of a fight on one of the trains last night. the passenger says the woman and a male passenger were arguing when she pulled a pair of city sos out of her purse. a few people nearby called 911. the train which was traveling from lafayette to san francisco stopped in west oakland. bart police came on board and arrested the woman. the man she was arguing with says he is not going to press charges. a flight was diverted to denver international because of an unruly passenger. the unit the flight took off from san francisco

international yesterday morning and heading to chicago but airline says some type of passenger disturbance caused the plane to be diverted from denver. last night a jet blue plane made an emergency landing in denver after a male passenger groped a pregnant woman. this morning two people are recovering after someone walked up to an apartment complex and opened fire. witnesses say yesterday afternoon a man wearing a all black and a ski mask began shooting outside the kathy ellen drive apartments. a woman and her four children were climbing into a friend's car when the woman and male driver were hit by bullets. >> the male victim drove himself to kizer. the female victim ran down the hill to get away from the area. >> witnesses say the situation could have been a lot worse because of all the children that had been playing outside at the time. they don't know if the woman or driver were targets or if this was alain dome shooting. another prayer vigil is

scheduled in san jose to remember victims killed in san jose's growing homicide rate. a march was held yesterday to remember the victims who have been killed in san jose this year. tomorrow night a prayer vigil will be held at city hall. san jose police chief chris moore is expected to address the public. families of the victims are also expected to speak. so far this year san jose police have had 33 homicide investigations. claims against chevron for the refinery fire can now only be filed by phone. a help center in richmond closed yesterday more than 18,000 claims have been filed so far and at a community rally and information meeting yesterday pemolined about enlisting in a class action suit against the oil giant. >> i have breathing problems. whenever fields enrichment it makes it worse. you are congested anywisey and irritated. your throat hurt and eyes are watery. >> the august 6th explosion and fire sent a plume of black

smoke over richmond. chevron said safety is the top priority. tomorrow the federal government will begin a radiation survey over the bay area. it will be using a low flying helicopter to measure naturally occurring radiation in the air. it will fly every day through sunday. the government says the information it gathers will be used to improve radiation measurement capabilities. right now tropical storm isaac is baring down on the florida keys. airport officials say they are considering canceling flights but don't expect any major disruptions until later today. they will take 45 miles an hour winds to ground planes and shut down the airport. that is possible with isaac expected to reach hurricane strength by this afternoon. meteorologist rosemary orozco is tracking isaac and has more on where this storm is heading. >> good morning, to you. the southern half of florida

already receiving some of the outer bands miami and fort lauderdale reporting wind gusts 50-60 miles an hour. and isaac is going to be swiping florida. it won't be a direct hit. but still enough to create chaos a little bit of damage and scare folks in that area. giving you a look at where we are talking about. you can see for yourself the outer bands over southern half of florida here is the latest update. the winds to about 65 miles an hour. moving northwest at about 20 miles an hour. it is located 135 miles east, southeast of key west florida. here is isaac's path. we are expecting to it strengthen over the course of the morning and afternoon. notice how it does just braise by florida. the bigger impact could be later early in the week i should say when it makes its target area right there along the gulf state. areas from louisiana, alabama, perhaps mississippi, and it

could be a category two when it reaches those states. we'll be tracking that for you. let's come back to the pacific where we are dealing with unseasonally cool weather. due to this trough you can see spinning right off the coast here near oregon as well as washington. the on shore breeze stronger this morning. the marine layer is deeper. take a look at some of the winds. 12 miles an hour in napa. 15 in oakland. 14 in hayward. not too strong but definitely strong enough to feel it if you will be outdoors. are you going to the farmers market? it could be a bit cool. lots of gusts here in fairfield reporting gusts to 30 miles an hour. 55 in fairfield. 57 in livermore. 56 in oakland. 55 in napa. ly point out if you do -- i will point out if you do not have the breeze, these numbers are up a few degrees. it may feel slightly warmer. 63 in berkeley. 63 expected in oakland. 60 for san francisco. 65 in hayward. upper 60s to near 70 over parts of the north bay. inland east bay 70s to near 80-

degrees in some cases with the hot spot being near brentwood. 82 for the afternoon. 75 livermore. 71 san jose. 75 expected last georgia -- los gatos. we will bounce back. summer isn't over just yet. getting back to the seasonal temps by wednesday and thursday. along the coast we'll watch our temperatures climb as well. low 60s to mid 60s as we get into midweek. back to you. we now know when the earthquakes will break ground on a new soccer stadium. the team sen joying one of the best seasons ever. but it plays in one of the oldest and smallest venues in the league. santa clara university buck shaw stadium. ground breaking for the new 18,000 feet facility is set for october 21st. it will be locate the on coleman avenue. it will open for the 2014 season. >> this stadium is nice.

i like balkshaw -- buckshaw i've always enjoyed it. but it's the university's stadium not ours. it will be good to have a stadium we can call ours. >> san jose mayor chuck reid says it's a wonderful time for pro sports in the south bay. the a's continue to look to the south bay as well. a popular stretch of road in the north bay could be under water. there has always been concern for highway 37 between vallejo and marin county. environmentalists predict parts of the road could be submerged in 50 years. it has the lowest elevation of any bay area highway. experts blame earthquakes and rising ocean levels. cal tran and uc davis researchers are working on solutions. get ready to grab your cameras. endangered wells are swarming to the coast. tourists from around the world are heading to the monterey bay to catch a glimpse of the blue whales. the number of whales normally

good morning, to you. a live look there at the city. you can actually see the bay bridge this morning. the cloud deck a little bit thicker. about 2500 feet at this hour. a $15,000 reward is being offered for information in the shooting death of a black bear add lake tahoe. the bear named sunny was found dead july 30th on abamp at homewood on the lakes west shore. residents are upset over the shooting and want california fish and game to investigate. the reward was raised by the tahoe bear league. the humane society, and local donations. a grizzly bear is responsible for killing a hiker in alaska's deally national park. 49-year-old richard white had been camping in the back country for three nights before he was killed on friday.

small plane crash in southern california is being investigated. los angeles police say the plane went down just before noon yesterday in a business district in san fernando valley. one person on board was seriously hurt while a second person suffered minor injuries. the plane was making its final approach to an airport when it crashed into an iron fence. >> the plane is combing like this on an angle. i could see the drivers face. he is panicking he was trying to control but he had no control over his plane. >> two cars and a building were damaged in that crash. the faa and ntsb are both investigating the accident. a skate border in venice says he wants to move on after he says he was a victim of a violent arrest by police that was all caught on camera. ronald weekly junior said he was riding his skate board on the sidewalk at his house when he was tacked by officers.

the death toll now stands at 39 after a huge explosion and fire at venezuela biggest oil refinery. it was the biggest ever to hit the key oil industry. no production units were effected and there are no plans to halt exports. president hugo chavez has declared three days of mourning. 36 people were killed in a firey tour bus crash in china. that accident happened early this morning when the bus rear ended a tanker truck carrying a highly flammable liquid. the bus and tanker both burst into flames. only charred skeletons of the vehicles were left behind. three people on the bus all survived but suffered serious injuries. two people died after being hit by a car during a memorial motorcycle ride in new hampshire. an 87-year-old driver crossed the center line and hit the group riding down route 12 in west mooreland. two motorcyclists were killed and five others were injured.

minutes. oh so close. petaluma almost made it to this afternoon's championship game. their miracle comeback fell just a bit short yesterday. down 15-5 to tennessee in the sixth. and final inning petaluma scored ten rounds to score the game. their late game heroics ended as tennessee stormed back to win 24-16. >> i'm a little sad because we lost but in the end i will be excited we came all the way here. >> when i'm 40 years old i can look on tv and say i played on that stadium. i did it. i hit a home run on that stadium and that's just cool to say. >> the game lasted more than three hours and set a world series record. where a combined 40 runs. back home in petaluma folks jumped for joy when the team tied that game at 15.

and woman and then opened fire. the woman was pronounced dead at the scene while the male victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition. while no arrests have been made, police believe the victims did know the shooter. hayward police is investigating a double shooting last night. it happened at ponderosa court and oliver drive. a gunman walked up to a car and opened fire. two people inside that vehicle were wounded but their injuries are reported not life threatening. two other individuals in the car were not hurt. the gunman ran and remains on the loose. witnesses say they heard a small plane having engine troubles before it crashed. now the witnesses say the plane turned and dipped before crash into barton meadow near highway 50. it debt saturday a small brush fire which firefighters were able to quickly contained. it was so badly burned and can't read the tail number and don't know how many people were

inside. developing news now and the approach of tropical storm isaac it continues to head right toward florida at this hour. coming up at 8:15 the preparations under way in the florida keys and how isaac has already effected the first day of the republican national convention. a registered antioch sex offender is facing charges in connection with an uninvolved murder in long beach. he was arrested by long beach police. you are looking at a photo from the megans law website where he goes by the name of march tell carson. los angeles prosecutors say he is accused in a 34-year-old murder case. the case involves a 17-year-old mother who was stabbed and choked to death. he is expected to be arraigned in court on september 11th. for the second time in a week an unruly passengerred caused a a plane to make an emergency landing in denver. yesterday morning a united flight took off from san francisco heading to chicago. but the airline says some type of passenger disturbance caused that plane to be diverted to

denver. last week when a jet blue plane made an emergency landing in denver after a male passenger groped a pregnant woman and ignored a flight attendants instructions. later today pg&e crews will perform pressure tests on pipelines. that work is being done on a section of pipe between hillside boulevard and ridge road. after the tests the pipeline will be monitored for eight hours. any sections of the pipe that do not meet acceptable standards will be replaced. an amazing weekend of sailing ends today. the first portion of america's cup world series is wrapping up. ktvu allie rasmus is live there at marina green where thousands of people will gather for today's races. >> reporter: san francisco mayor earlier this week ed lee he predicted that this race would end upbringing $1 billion in economic impact to the entire bay area. now we'll have to wait until the week's over the numbers cragged to see if that prediction is true. thousands of people have come here and other spots in the san francisco shoreline to watch

today. tropical storm isaac is expected to be at or near hurricane strength winds when it reaches the florida keys later today. i want to give you a live look at marathon florida take a look at that. it's blowing out there and looking very gray and ominous over there in florida. forecasters say the storm has already gained strength and could be at or near hurricane force when it reaches the florida keys. reporter rick has more on the damage the storm has already caused. >> reporter: tropical storm isaac sweeping across haiti's southern peninsula bringing torrential rains and heavy damage. high winds lashing the southern coast. flattening tents and some of the fragile resettlement camps. housing 350,000 survivors. many fear the flooding could help reignite a cholera epidemic that has killed 7500 people in haiti. >> we tonight even have a sheet cover for the tents and last night we had to stay awake and

tomorrow and immediately recess until tuesday afternoon. party leaders believe the worst of the storm will have passed by then. in a tweet romney says the safety of the people attending is more important. republicans headed toen convention late -- it will be the largest at the convention with 750 attending. the party chairman says most people are already there and the bad weather is dampening their spirits. sentence there is an increased police presence ahead of this weeks republican national convention. despite the storms police are stepping up patrols. cameras are also being installed at almost every intersection. people who live there say the extra security is inconvenient but they do feel safer. ktvu ken is in florida for the gop convention and he will have live reports throughout the week starting tonight at the 10:00 news. president obama expects that he will be targeted by republicans at the convention. >> they basically have one message which is the economy is

drug charges. officers were called to georgia and stephens street last night. the suspect was taken to the hospital but witnesses tell police he handed something off to his passengers before he left. the two passengers dumped the items on to the streets but police went back to the streets to find them. the items were a gun and a bag of heroin. this morning vallejo police are looking for the person they say walkwalked up to an apartment complex and began shooting. witnesses say yesterday afternoon a man wearing all black and a ski mask opened fire outside the kathy ellen drive apartments. a woman and her four children were climing into a friends car when the woman and male driver were hit by bullets. >> the male victim drove himself to kaiser and the female victim ran down the hill to get away from the area and neighbors started helping her out. >> witnesses say the situation could have been a lot worse because of all the children that were playing outside at the time of that shooting.

police don't know if the woman or driver were targets for if this was a random shooting. the shooter ran away on foot. another prayer vigil is scheduled in san jose to remember victims killed in san jose's growing homicide rate. a march was held yesterday to remember the victims that were killed in san jose this year. a prayer vigil will be held outside of city hall. chris moore is expected to address the public. families of victims are also expected to speak. so far this year san jose police say the city has had 33 homicides. fire crews are starting to get the upper hand on a massive wild fire burning north of sac saab. that fire has destroyed 64 homes. hundreds more are threatened. the fire has burned more than 27,000 acres and 74 contained. it started last week from a lightning strike. fire crews expect it cobe contained. possibly as early as tomorrow. fire crews also battling two other major fires here in northern california. one is burning in the plumas

national forest. that one has been burning since last month. nearly 67,000-acres have burned so far and 61% contained. the other is burning outside mendocino county in the community of covelo. that fire is 32% on cotanned and burned more than 24,000- acres. fema is denying help to those -- at least 85% of those homes were not insured. but fema says the damage is not severe enough to warrant individual assistance. oklahoma's governor is appealing that decision. claims against chevron for the refinery fire can now only be filed by phone. a help center in richmond closed yesterday. more than 18,000 claims have been filed so far. and at a community rally and information meeting yesterday, people learned about enlisting in a class action suit against

the northern gulf coast. forecasters say isaac could grow into a dangerous category two hurricane as it gets closer to the united states. the death toll now stands at 39 after a huge explosion and fire at venezuela's biggest oil refinery. the fire is still burning this morning. saturday's explosion was one of the deadliest disasters ever to hit the key oil industry. venezuela's energy minister says no productions was effected and there will be no plans to halt exports. president hugo chavez has declared three days of mourning and ordered an investigation to determine the cause to have that explosion. 2,000 syrian refugees are fleeing to jordan each day. they are trying to escape the bloody crack down of the government. there are 160,000 refugees currently in jordan. that country is asking for humanitarian aid from around the world.

36 people are dead after a firey tour bus crash in china. the accident happened early this morning when the bus rear ended a tanker carrying a highly flammable liquid. only charred skeletons of the vehicles were left behind. three people on the bus did survive but they all suffered serious injuries. sex scandal involving the customs and enforcement department continues to widen. susan barr is the ice chief of staff. she is on leave while they look into sexual misconduct. at least three ice employees have come forward. one male said barr called him sexy and asked him a personal question about his body. she is also accused of offering to have sex with another sub board gnat. screenersed tested 14 bags of rice harvested near the

homicides are up by 30% when compared to last year. election 2012 news, tropical storm isaac is derailing plans for the start of the republican national convention. the party's chairman says the convention will convene tomorrow as scheduled, but will immediately go into recess until tuesday afternoon. party leaders believe the worst of the storm will have passed by then. about 50,000 people are expected to attend the convention where mitt romney will officially accept his party's presidential nomination. in a tweet, romney says the opening day nomination will have to wait because people's safety is more important. california republicans received word last night that the opening of the convention is being delayed. the chairman of the california republican party says this is not ruining the party's enthusiasm. he says most of the delegation is already in florida, and eager to begin. california's republican party is the largest at the convention,

people in florida are bracing for tropical storm isaac this morning. good morning, welcome back. >> tropical storm isaac is just one of the stop stories we are following. the other is the little league world series third place game going on now. petaluma is beating panama in the 4th inning. it comes after a miraculous come back in the u.s. title game against tennessee. they scored ten runs in the final inning to tie, but eventually lost 4-16 in extra innings. it is the final day of racing in the america's cup world series, oracle team lemed by jimmy spit there is hill is leading so far. thousands have packed marina green. and tropical storm isaac is expected to reach the keys later today. the storm is expected to gain strength and could become a

water, it is going to get worse when isaac reaches the florida keys. hurricane warnings are in effect right now. isaac is expected to gain strength and could become a category 2 hurricane. local red cross teams are in florida trying to help with that effort. >> investigators are trying to figure out what brought down a small plane in south lake tahoe. witnesses say they heard engine trouble, and saw the plane turn, dip, and crash into barton meadow near highway 50. still no word on how many people were on board. police in oakland are for the suspect in a deadly double shooting. it happened in the away of 85th and olive near bancroft. the shooter walked up to a man and woman and opened fire. the woman died on the scene. the man was rushed to the hospital, and was in critical condition. gusty winds to play a role in the final day of racing in the america's cup world series. thousands are expected to attend the races.

investigating the accident. a $15,000 reward is being offered for information in the shooting development of a back bear at lake tahoe, that bear's name is sunny. she was found dead july 30 on a beach at home wood on the west shore. residents are upset and want california fish and game to investigate. they say they can't do anything without hard evidence. the reward was raised by the tahoe bear league, humane society and local donations. a grizzly bear is responsible for killing a hiker in alaska. 49-year-old had been camping in the back country for three nights before being killed. he had photographs the bear for at least 8 minutes before it attacked. this is the first fatal bear attack in the park's history. get ready to grab your cameras. tourists from around the world are heading to the bay to catch a glimpse of the blue whales.
